Unai Emery unsure of Arsenal’s top 4 chances

Cape Town — Arsenal manager Unai Emery has admitted it is “not easy” to talk about his side’s top-four aspirations after a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

The Gunners were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and they have now slipped down to sixth in the standings, three points off the top-four positions.

Sergio Aguero was the star of the show for City during the contest, as he netted a hat-trick, while Laurent Koscielny got his name on the scoresheet for the Gunners.

Emery admitted after the match that Arsenal were beaten by the better team on the day, but he is confident his side will be able to bounce back, starting with next week’s trip to the John Smith’s Stadium to take on Huddersfield.

“They showed their superiority in 90 minutes. They held their level in 90 minutes and our level in the second half was worse than the first,” Emery told Sky Sports.

“Our challenge now is the next week, continue to work and improve, and think how we can work and be better.”

Although he expects his side to return to winning ways quickly, Emery was less confident about their chances of securing a top-four finish, with Chelsea and

Manchester United having moved above them in the standings over the course of the weekend.

“After losing 3-1 it’s not easy to say that,” Emery said when asked about Arsenal’s top-four chances.

“But I know we need big help.”
