TUSKERS held their last training session in Bulawayo on Tuesday before they left for Mutare yesterday to face Mountaineers in their fifth and sixth matches of the 2022/23 Pro50 Championship season scheduled for today and Saturday.

Captained by Ainsley Ndlovu, Tuskers are on top of the five-team log with 40 points having won all the four matches they have played. They boast of being the only undefeated side and will be looking to replicate their recent form in Mutare.

The team from Bulawayo completed a famous double over rivals Eagles in Harare in their first two matches of the season before making a trip back home where they recorded back to back wins over Southern Rocks at Bulawayo Athletic Club.

Ndlovu said the preparations for the Mountaineers matches went well after they took a break on Monday and the whole team is in good spirits and looking forward to the matches.

“We had a break yesterday (Monday) and today we had a chance to regroup as a team and we had a net session and everyone is in good spirits, we are looking forward to the challenge in Mutare,” said Ndlovu on Tuesday.

Ndlovu said they will also be taking in games as they come and their focus is giving in their best in the field and the results will then follow. He is however confident things will go according to plan in Mutare.

“We just want to play our best cricket and then the result will just take care of itself, we still have not played a clean game and hopefully with the heat we had today(yesterday) if we iron out a few things, it should all go our way,” he said.

After the games against Mountaineers, Tuskers will play host to Rhinos in Bulawayo on October 28 and 30. – Follow on Twitter @brandon_malvin
