JUST imagine you wake up in the morning to find mealie-meal and sugar emptied on the floor and when it is time to eat you find the pot mysteriously empty.
Not only that, when you look for the footprints of the “person” who could be behind the horrifying incident, bricks land on you and window panes of the house are smashed.
This is a horrifying experience that three families in St-Peters on the periphery of Bulawayo near Old Pumula have been enduring for a week. Due to that, two of three families deserted their homes as the attacks, thought to be carried out by goblins continued unabated.
B-Metro visited the area on Wednesday and observed that a villager, Xolani Mlalazi’s homestead was deserted. Doors were locked and stones were strewn on the yard. Some of the bedroom window panes were smashed. Lister Tshuma, a relative and neighbour to Mlalazi explained what she witnessed.
“While we were eating supper last week on Thursday, we got shocked to see tenants running into our sitting room saying there were things, which were stoning them. They told us that one of the doors was hit, forcing it to open and stones rained into the living room, causing them to flee,” said Tshuma.

Following that, Tshuma told the news crew that they tried to seek divine intervention but all was in vain.
“The tenants teamed up with my daughter and other community members to exorcise the place by praying. They went there and returned running because the invisible things were fiercely throwing stones at them. One of the tenants slept here while the other slept at a neighbour’s place,” said Tshuma.
Family members deserted the home and they slept in the neighbourhood.
“Two tenants have deserted the home while some of us put up at our neighbour’s place,” said Siphathisiwe Moyo.
She added: “It (invisible thing) empties sugar and mealie-meal on the floor. We do not know what to do because the invisible things also eat our meat. The situation has plunged our lives into a crisis and fear.”
At another homestead, a woman who identified herself as NaMolly revealed that she woke up without underwear. She, however, said she does not believe she was sexually violated.
“This thing is troubling me and I’m living in fear that it will end up sleeping with me. When I sleep I don’t remove my underwear but surprisingly for the past three days when I wake up in the morning, I will be without underwear and it will be on the floor,” she said.
At Phindani Moyo’s homestead, doors were locked and there was no one at home. The chairperson of the area, Reginald Mkhosana confirmed the incidents.
“We will convene a meeting with families and elderly people in the community to plan how to root out these invisible beings. We do not want Tsikamutandas (witch hunters) because they divide communities. We want a pastor or a prophet who will come and cleanse the area and leave us united as a community.”
