The Sixers players could not cope with the Unicorns onslaught as they trailed 14-59 in the third quarter with Chamu Mkwananzi standing out for Unicorns. The last quarter saw Unicorns continue their dominance scoring 35 points to Sixers’ five.
Speaking after the match Unicorns player/coach Walter Mabhena said he was satisfied with his team’s performance. “What can I say after the boys have done such a good job? It might have looked easy but it was tough and I am satisfied with the spirit my boys showed and we hope to continue in this form for the rest of the season,” said Mabhena.
Tatenda Tswatswa was the highest scorer in the match as he amassed 34 points.
In another match played on Saturday, Giants women got the better of Highlanders by three points when they won 29-26 while Lakers women and Kings men registered walkovers over Stars and Steelers respectively.
In matches played on Friday, Highlanders men trounced Stars 131-34. Three-point guru Michael Zvoushe of Bosso was the man-of-the-match while Stars men narrowly defeated ZB Titans 61-55 in a match that was fiercely contested as both teams were coming from defeats in their previous matches.
ZB Titans’ Stanley Gumbo had a great game but King Mkandla of Stars was the star-of-the-match.
