Uninterrupted power supply pleases winter wheat farmers

Njabulo Nkomo, [email protected]

FARMERS have applauded Government for increasing power generation which has guaranteed them uninterrupted power supply.

The Government early this year promised winter wheat farmers uninterrupted power supplies and also allowed them to have a stop-order facility which does not require them to pay upfront for electricity during the production cycle.

Farmers have in the past been affected by loadshedding which disrupted their irrigation cycle.

The hectarage under winter wheat this year has been increased to 85 000 hectares from 80 388 planted in 2022.

Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers Union national vice president Mr Winstone Babbage said farmers are happy that there is uninterrupted power supply this winter cropping season.
