THE Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union has named the team that will represent the country at the prestigious All-African Challenge Trophy in Namibia from April 27 to May 1.
The selection was confirmed by the ZLGU public relations officer Evelyne Maisvoreva in a newsletter.
She indicated that four players comprising Aulia Alfazema, Loice Chingono, Danielle Bekker and Batsirai Tilowakuti will represent the country at this year.
Tilowakuti playing off four handicap is Zimbabwe’s top women amateur golfer and was a member of the Zimbabwe team to AACT 2012 in Botswana.
She has represented the country in many tournaments like the Gilberson and Page Team in Zamiba in 2011 and 2013 in Nairobi before taking almost a year off the course.
Tilowakuti has since returned with a bang. The spotlight will also fall on 12-year-old Danielle Bekker who will earn her stripes after making it.
The Chapman based player has been doing well in several events and will have an opportunity to contest with top African golfers.
Bekker is likely to become the youngest player to take part in the event. She also took part in the Kids World Golf Championships late last year.
The promising young player managed to win the B Division Trophy and will be playing off nine handicap.
Chingono managed to make it to the team having been a reserve in 2012 when Claire Minter, Rumbi Masamvu and Tilowakuti who wore her national colours that year represented the nation.
