Unite in fight against litter: Karoro

Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Deputy Minister Cde Douglas Karoro has called on all stakeholders to unite in the fight against litter to help prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases like typhoid and cholera. Cde Karoro, who is also the legislator for Mbire, was speaking on the sidelines of the provincial clean-up campaign held recently in Bindura where he joined residents in cleaning up the town.

He said the clean-up campaign should not be a one-day event.
“Let us continue to be united in the fight against littering so that we prevent communicable diseases such as typhoid and cholera,” said Cde Karoro.

“I can see we have different Government departments which include the army, police, prisons, ZESA and many others, as well as corporates such as TM, Econet and others.
“I call upon Bindura residents to ensure that the environment is always clean.

“An event like this one should not be for one day. I urge all stakeholders, be it Government departments or corporates to instil a culture of cleanliness on their employees, to make sure that our environment is clean.”
Speaking at the same event, Mashonaland Central provincial administrator Mr Cosmas Chiringa said a provincial committee that oversees the clean-ups every first Friday of every month was put in place.
