The vibrant suburb of Lobengula West in Bulawayo is set to come alive on August 11 as it hosts the fifth annual Unlock Party, organised by South Africa-based musician Diliza (Delaney Dondo).

The event that serves as a platform to unleash new talent, will be emceed by the fast-rising comedian Sipho Mercent Nyathi, with a  stellar line-up of DJs set to keep the crowd dancing all night.

It will showcase a mix of emerging DJs like Stout, Ntoks, and laBreeze Maestro, alongside well-known DJs such as Sweeto, Sbago, Skaiva, and Kead Wikead.

DJ Diliza who was raised in Gwabalanda and is famed for his group, Stiff that had a stint  with Kalawa Jazmee, shared  that the success of the annual event is rooted in the tremendous support from the local community.

“The inspiration behind holding this event every year comes from the massive support we’ve received from the local people. This event has a unique way of uniting the community,” he said.

Since its successful inception in 2020, the Unlock Party has grown and this edition promises to be exceptional as Diliza will be on the lookout for new talent.

“The Unlock Party, which started in 2020, was initially a collaboration between myself, Arnold Ngoma, DJ Cable (Mthokozisi Nyoni aka DJ Smallz), and Shoen Ndlovu aka Fraize.

“This year, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be scouting for fresh talent through my recording label, Progressive Records,” Diliza explained.

Event-goers will also have the opportunity to purchase “Unlock Party” themed T-shirts on the day. Additionally, Diliza is working with Bongizwe Masuku to establish a new studio in Bulawayo, aiming to further support local talent.
