Unprincipled police officers warned

Speaking during the handover of awards to 69 detectives at Morris Depot in Harare, Commissioner Solomon Mubatapasango, said the police’s integrity should be beyond reproach.
“Let me express my utmost displeasure at unprincipled police officers whose conduct is in contrast to the dictates of the organisation’s values and ethics . . . (who) engage in nefarious activities.
“Corruption of whatever form can never be justified and will never be given any breathing space within the force.
“The organisation does not brook indiscipline and corrupt tendencies among its officers,” he said.
Comm Mubatapasango said those who choose to violate the law would face the full wrath of the law.
“Our crime detection rate increased by seven percent last year and now stands at 52 percent – a development which should serve as a strong warning to criminals.
“I want to send a strong warning to those who choose to violate the law that they will face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
Comm Mubatapasango presented certificates and cash prizes to the 69 detectives facilitated by Twalumba Holdings.
Among the 69 who received prizes, six were women.
The prizes were awarded to detective of the month and team of the month for November 2010 to January 2011.
Twalumba Holdings chairperson Mrs Miriam Sibanda said the company was proud to be associated with the ZRP Criminal Investigation Department who worked hard to reduce crime in the country.
