UNWTO delegates to tour

Zimbabwe’s status as a prime tourist destination is expected to be further enhanced during the forthcoming 20th session of the UNWTO General Assembly with delegates from the participating countries expected to visit several tourist attraction sites across the country.Outgoing Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Engineer Walter Mzembi yesterday said heads of delegations from countries that would participate at the indaba, which officially begins at the weekend, were going to visit prime tourist attraction sites in both Zimbabwe and Zambia that are co-hosting the event.

Engineer Mzembi said the first stop would be the Great Zimbabwe World Heritage site monuments on August 25 while another group would also tour the Victoria Falls Bridge on the same day.

He also said part of the delegation would also be taken for a tour of the Victoria Falls rainforest which is also a World Heritage site on the same day.
“We have already made arrangements for some of the delegates to tour the Great Zimbabwe monuments and planes that will transport the anticipated 100 delegates to Masvingo have already been secured and the delegates will land at Masvingo Airport.

Others will also tour the Victoria Falls bridge and the Victoria Falls rainforest which is a World Heritage site,” said Engineer Mzembi.
