UPCOMING musician, Charles “Boss Kafu” Kafuridza, said his latest offering honours his parents for laying a solid foundation for him.
The leader of ‘The Legends Express Band’ said his latest single ‘Vabereki,’ is a heartfelt tribute to parents and their sacrifices in raising their children.
“This is one of my best projects so far because it carries an important message. I am thanking my parents for taking care of me and my mother for carrying me for nine months until the time of my birth.
“Now that I am grown, I am able to enjoy the happiness and joy of life because of what my parents did for me.
“Through this song, I am encouraging everyone to love and appreciate their parents.”
Boss Kafu said music has been part of his life from childhood having grown up singing in church.
His sound has also been shaped by some of the local musicians, including Alick Macheso, Charles Charamba, Mark Ngwazi, Mr Fa and the late Leonard Dembo and System Tazvida.
“I listen to their music a lot and they have inspired me.
“Music is in my blood because I started singing in church when I was young and I am still doing it to this day,” he said.
Boss Kafu began releasing his own music in 2024 with two singles, “Kurarama” and “Denga Ndera Mambo”.
Last year, he recorded four more tracks “Zvepasi Rino,” “Mhirizhonga,” “Vane Rudo” and “Dziva Guru” which he combined with the two earlier singles to create his album ‘Zvepasi Rino’.
The album also features “Denga Ndera Mambo” and “Kurarama” as bonus tracks.
He has maintained the momentum this year, releasing “Mwenje Werudo” in July before teaming up with “Simbarashe Kangeni” on “Totenda Magamba” in August.
Although he has not yet worked with big-name artistes, Boss Kafu said collaborations with established musicians remain part of his ambitions.
The musician said fans should expect more music from The Legends Express Band as he works towards building a bigger profile locally and beyond Zimbabwe.
