THREE Bulawayo men allegedly robbed a 62-year-old man, squeezed his privates and stabbed him on his hands and buttocks.
Alfred Mushamba (21), Wellington Kayiya (38) and Tinashe Chivindi (23) yesterday pleaded not guilty to a robbery charge when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Franklin Mkhwanazi who remanded them in custody to March 23 for provision of a trial date.
Allegations are that on March 4 this year at around 6PM, Mr Douglas MacNeill from Burnside suburb was at his house watching television when the three allegedly knocked on his door.
Prosecuting, Mr Nkathazo Dlodlo said Mr MacNeill opened the door assuming it was his employees.
The trio allegedly struck him twice with a stone on his forehead and he fell down.
“Kayiya and Chivindi entered the house. Kayiya allegedly assaulted the complainant with fists and tied his hands with an electric cord. He squeezed his privates while Chivindi was searching the house for cash and valuables but could not find anything,” said Mr Mageza.
The court heard Mr MacNeill’s mouth was covered using cello tape.
“Chivindi picked a knife from the kitchen and allegedly started stabbing the complainant on his buttocks and all over his hands demanding safe keys and cash.
“Mushamba was outside monitoring movements from a distance within the yard.
“The two who were in the house pulled Mr MacNeill to his bedroom where Chivindi took a wallet which had RTGS$200 and US$5,” said the prosecutor.
The court heard the complainant continued screaming even with the cello tape covering his mouth. A neighbour heard the muffled screams and called out MacNeill’s name, forcing the trio to flee.
The complainant was taken to Mater Dei hospital for medical treatment.
The total stolen was $200 bond notes and US$5.
