US loses moral ground on human rights, democracy

As the modern world politics evolves around respect of other states, no matter how small, the Washington Administration has lost its moral claim to anything good.

For long regarded as the cradle of human rights, democracy, free speech, good governance, human right and accountability, the US has slumped into exactly what it derides other countries for.

The recent demonstrations by students over the Israeli genocide in Gaza, is a case in point. The students were beaten, dispersed violently with tear smoke, kicked, shoved and arrested for simply expressing themselves. They were dehumanised.

If it was another country, the US would have stuck its neck out and shouted about lack of freedom and brutality. Now that it exhibited the same brutality, where does it leave Washington?

Washington has used sanctions to deal with many countries in the world in the pretext that they were not doing enough in good governance, anti-corruption, respect of human rights but where is Washintion today?

The massive corruption involving Joe Biden, his son Hunter and sister-in-law Sarah in Ukraine and the billions of dollars’ investment in military hardware to support Ukraine at the expense of the ordinary Americans, especially the middle class and the baby boomers, does not point to Washington’s sincerity in good governance, accountability and human rights.

President Biden sponsors the current regime in Ukraine so that its covers up for the corruption footprints. And, the cover up is very expensive to ordinary Americans.

Then there is the interference in a conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which US in real terms has no business funding, except its ego to want to thwart Russian sovereignty and dignity.

The US has unfortunately abrogated itself the right to police everyone in the world and yet it is doing exactly the same things that it wants to stop other countries from doing.

For example, Africa and the developing world have suffered heavily under the El Nino induced food crisis and Russia has sought to supply grain to troubled regions to save lives, but the US has done everything possible to stop grain deliveries from Moscow simply for its political expedience.

That the US seeks to abuse the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) structures to block Russian food aid is very dangerous to the starving masses in Africa and the developing world. Russia has the grain. Russia has the capacity. Russia has the will-power and should be allowed to help the poor. — Belgian ThinkTank.com
