US$488 000 fraudster bail ruling set for Wednesday

Nyore Madzianike Senior Court Reporter

THE woman who allegedly duped a Harare businessman of US$488 000 will know her fate tomorrow when a Harare magistrate makes a bail ruling in her matter.

Today, the State opposed granting her bail saying it has overwhelming evidence in the form of money transfers transacted between her and the businessman, Mr Erasmus Chimbumu.

Mr Anesu Chirenje, appearing for the State, also said Eustace Charambira was likely to interfere with witnesses since she knows them.

He also said Charambira was likely to abscond since she has been previously convicted.

Charambira, through her lawyer, said she will not evade the court’s jurisdiction because of covid-19 restrictions.

Magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi is expected to make a bail ruling tomorrow.
