Construction of the University of Zimbabwe’s Quinary Hospital is progressing, with Phase One expected to be completed by mid-2027 as the institution moves to establish a centre for specialised treatment, medical training and research.
The hospital will offer services including cancer treatment, cardiology and advanced laboratory diagnostics, with the second phase expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
University of Zimbabwe Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Mapfumo said construction of the oncology unit had taken longer than anticipated due to technical and licensing requirements relating to radiation equipment, but work was now progressing.
“The construction of the infrastructure is only one part of establishing the hospital. We have worked on the requirements for procuring equipment, and we are continuing to engage Government to ensure that the necessary resources are available,” he said.
