YESTERDAY, the world celebrated Kiss Day ahead of Valentine’s Day today.
Cupid’s arrows will be flying around seeking to pierce hearts and create new unions or cement existing ones.
To aid the god of love in his never-ending quest to forge romantic relationships, entertainment spots in Bulawayo have lined up an assortment of entertainment for patrons.
The unfortunate couples will be arguing over who will be buying gifts for the other this year as others enjoy heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, ruby-red roses and sparkling champagne among other diverse romantic gestures.
Creatives around the city told Chronicle Showbiz what they will be out to celebrate romance.
All-female Imbube ensemble Nobuntu will be hosting a show at The Oasis alongside Stango and Nongoma as well as Ramadu and Oktopus.
Nobuntu’s Duduzile Sibanda said it’s all systems go for the concert.
“This Valentine’s Day will be all about music to us. We are super prepared and can’t wait to perform. It’s going to be such a treat to lovers who will attend,” she said.
Asked how they will balance being busy on the day when they are supposed to be enjoying quality time with their better halves, Sibanda said they will always find time for their lovers.
“Yes, we do have time (to spend with our spouses) as we get off days like any other employee. We travel a lot but thanks to technology we manage to call them and see them online often so it makes us closer,” she said.
Drip queen and founder of clothing line Ndebele Crush will be customising gift packs for lovers while singer and Msiz’kay said his will be an eventful Valentine’s Day and they will actually enjoy romantic privileges on Wednesday.

“I will be performing at a couple of private gigs on Valentine’s Day. There is so much to give to people who love and appreciate music so I will try to be a part of some people’s celebrations to move the idea of romance forward. We are usually busy on the day so my Valentine’s Day will actually be on the 15th,” chuckled the Kulula hitmaker.
Love songs are the order of the day, Real Shona has gone out and dedicated his song titled Fiona to all beautiful women.
“In case you didn’t get lucky, let me bring joy to your heart ladies with a heartfelt dedication be my Fiona all of you, keep shining,” he said.
Popular radio personality and events director, Cde Phil will be at Mpala Events, serenading lovers and patrons who will be dancing to their favourite songs with Emmartheviolinist and Mbongeni Ignatius the Comedian complementing the celebrations.
Bulawayo lover boy Amany unlike others, is a gone boy, a pretty lady stole his heart and he will therefore be spoiling his Queen. Well, he also ushered his fans into the loving spirit by dropping a single titled Novuyo just a week ago.
“We celebrate love every day but this particular day should not be like the other days. I will be having a private dinner with my partner and catching a movie afterwards. There’ll be an exchange of gifts as we celebrate love,” he said.
Mzoe 7 with his upcoming single Indoda must, where he advocates for women to also treat their men like kings, could not resist but share how he will go about Valentine’s Day.
“Umjolo uyanyisa but celebrate love despite all the odds. Well, for me it’s business as usual and I will try to spread love to people, surprise people and remind them the world still loves and believes in them. I will also be doing a commercial for a certain company and then later own work on my video shoot,” said the Ginimbi hitmaker.
