Vendors receive sanitiser dispensers

Vendors Initiative for Social and Economic Transformation (VISET) has donated two sanitiser dispensers at Lusaka Fresh Produce Market in Highfield as part of measures to combat the spread of coronavirus.

VISET also donated health packs including face masks, buckets and sanitisers to vendors operating at the fresh produce market.

Each sanitiser dispenser has a storage capacity of 16 litres of sanitiser and can dispense five millilitres at any given time.

Calculations show that each sanitiser dispenser when filled can serve up to 3 200 people.

VISET executive director, Mr Samuel Wadzai handed over the machines and health packs on Monday at Lusaka Fresh Produce Market.

Harare mayor Councillor Herbert Gomba who was accompanied by the town clerk Engineer Hosiah Chisango, fellow councillors and council officials said the donation was timely.

“People are struggling to pay bills during the lockdown period as council we are grateful for such a partnership. The machine is very easy to use, makes users avoid contamination and it also saves the precious water. As a council we are open to working with vendors,” he said.

Mayor Gomba urged the beneficiaries to guard jealously the donated machines and put them to good use.

“Where some are doing good there are others who will be up to no good. Beware of thieves make sure you safeguard the dispensers. These machines should not be personalised,” he said.
