Venezuelan minister dismisses US report

country’s fight against drug trafficking and terrorism.

In statements to Venezuelan state television, El Aissami strongly criticised a report issued by the US administration that claims Venezuela has created a permissive environment for drug cartels and terrorists.”
Once again, continuous discredit and aggression are unleashed by certain spokesmen for the US empire against the sovereign policies of our government with respect to the struggle against illegal drug trafficking,” El Aissami stated.

The official also stated that Washington’s stance verged on absolute lies and manipulation, and he quoted a recent UN report praising Venezuela’s work in fighting drug trafficking.
El Aissami stated that the US report contradicts the UN report, which names the United States as one of those responsible for the problem of drug trafficking, which has disastrous consequences for life.

According to the UN, in 2011 Venezuela was reduced to a secondary country in the transit classification, and is now in fifth place for total seizures of four percent of cocaine worldwide, El Aissami said.
El Aissami also criticised privately-owned television networks and newspapers that did not cover the UN report, but did give coverage to the US report. – Prensa Latina.
