ARTISTES from Victoria Falls have come together on a collaborative music project aimed at showcasing the beauty of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
The track, titled Kasambabezi, was produced by DJ Ace Kater, also known as Joseph Black, and features a large line-up of local talent including Smokey P, Dos Pinky, Alka Tin, Madhuku, Uncle Bobos, Obvidoe, Maskal, Criss Ozzy, Muzie, Raaz, J Tonga and Blaq Spider.
Project organiser Handsome “Handy” Sibanda said the song celebrates Victoria Falls and is set for release this week.
“I’ve realised that there’s power in collaborations. Vic Falls has so many talented artistes and producers that trying to fit them into one song would be impossible. As it is, this song is nine minutes long. The video will be shot here in Vic Falls by the Afri Art crew from Bulawayo in early May. The audio version of the song will be out before the end of this month,” he said.
“I’m so excited for this project because from the snippets we have released, people are already excited and eager to hear the full song. Ace Kater recently allowed me to listen to the project and I was immediately blown away. All the artistes on this project have strong individual productions of their own, so coming together on one song is a huge win not only for Vic Falls but for the Zimbabwean music industry as a whole,” said Handy.
He added that the initiative will become an annual project, complemented by live performances.
“This will be an annual project which will run every year in April. After the video comes out, I want to work on an event where these artistes will come and showcase their music live on stage. All of this is to give artistes a platform to showcase their gifts,” he said.
