ALL is set for the 15th Zanu-PF Annual National People’s Conference which kicks off here on Monday with the party’s Secretary for Administration Cde Ignatius Chombo expressing satisfaction with the preparations.

The conference ends on December 13.

Cde Chombo said the venue is almost complete and will be ready on time.

The two vice presidents Cdes Phelekezela Mphoko and Emmerson Mnangagwa will today tour the venue after meeting the organising committee to ascertain readiness for the conference.

Briefing journalists after a preparatory meeting yesterday, Cde Chombo, who was flanked by Politburo members Cdes Cain Mathema and Kembo Mohadi, said he was happy with the preparations and the party was poised for a memorable conference.

“From reports we have been given we are happy with progress so far. The tent village is almost complete while transport is being organised and everything is on course.

“What makes us happy is how the local community has been involved in the preparations.

“We think Zanu-PF is going to have a resounding conference,” said Cde Chombo.

The theme for the conference is “Consolidating people’s power through Zim-Asset.”

Accreditation of delegates is almost complete, Cde Chombo said.

He said the Politburo will meet on Monday in Harare followed by the meeting of the Central Committee on Wednesday to discuss issues related to the conference.

Delegates will travel to Victoria Falls on Thursday with the conference going into full swing on Friday.

Cde Chombo said deliberations will continue on Saturday with the closing ceremony in the evening. Delegates will depart on Sunday.

He said no foreign delegates will be attending the conference which will “only be an annual event to assess progress made after last year’s congress.”
