It is the eighth wonder of the world, a Unesco Heritage Site. A gem that will soon play host to a unique yet powerful, strategic new golf product: The Africa Inter City Golf Team Championship.

Victoria Falls and indeed Zimbabwe is beyond excited to host this glamorous event, which will be held over two days at the exotic Elephants Hills Golf Course. The first of four such events in the country and as the event tees off, it will also be held in 55 cities across Africa including Zimbabwe’s Gweru, Harare and Bulawayo.

“This is an opportunity to bring our golf community from across Africa together. And building these partnerships through sport is the perfect way to do that,” said Zimbabwe Golf Association’s Ephraim Mashingaidze.

It’s City versus City; with players across Africa competing in true Ryder Cup Style ? where the lowest player score for each hole wins that hole for their team. Golfers from exotic African cities like Cairo, Casablanca, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, Tripoli, Windhoek, Dodoma and Lagos are expected to make the trip for what promises to be a great experience for all.

Players will tee-off at Elephant Hills Golf Club on 6 September and 7 September.  The vision behind the Africa Inter-Cities Golf Team Championships is to create a friendly competition.

“The main goal of these events is to build a golf player family with people from around Africa. Golf creates comradery, where all player levels come together to socialise while playing a great sport.”

ZGA president and Africa Golf Confederation deputy president, Martin Chikwana is enthusiastic about this event.

“As a golfing nation, we are thrilled to host the Africa Inter-City Golf Tournament, connecting and supporting the African golfing community across Africa. I’m ecstatic about the possibilities,” said Chikwana.
