Bulawayo City 0-1 How Mine
A fifty-seventh minute strike by Tsepo Ranthokoane was enough to secure maximum points for How Mine at the expense of Bulawayo City in a match played at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.
The first half was a dull encounter with no goalmouth action save for some chances which City failed to convert. How Mine could have scored in the ninth minute through Kuda Musharu but he failed to convert after being set up by Ranthokoane. Musharu chose a weak effort which was safely collected by Ndodana Sibanda in goal for the municipality bankrolled club.
In the 32nd minute, veteran Mkhokheli Dube failed to finish off a Xolisani Moyo pass from inside the box hitting the side netting instead.
Moments later, assistant referee Faith Mloyi waved her flag to indicate an offside position by Dube who thought he had put his side ahead off a pass from Innocent Kutsanzira.
How Mine came back from the breather a rejuvenated side, firing from all cylinders that resulted in the match’s only goal in the 57th minute.
The City defence, marshalled by Nyasha Mukumbi and Brian Chikwenya, failed to deal with a Milton Ncube cross which Ranthokoane buried home to give How Mine the lead. Try Ncube made a double substitution in the 60th minute bringing in Makhosi Ncube for Xolisani Moyo who had a rather subdued game while Eddie Nkulungo came in for Mkhululi Moyo .
How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu introduced Godfrey Nguwodzawo for Toto Banda in the 66th minute but the raids failed to deliver another goal for Chikurupati.
“Overally we did not play well, we lost concentration. Energy levels were not the same in all our departments,” said a disappointed Ncube for City.
Kaindu was a relieved man.
“Its good for us, we have struggled to pick points in derbies. The guys have shown that they can rise to the occasion,” said Kaindu.
