Villager commits suicide

Rugara Village under Chief Chihota reportedly downed rat poison and died at his homestead early this week.
Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thando Madhoyo confirmed the incident.
According to police, the dispute over custody of Stella Marimo started after Mari-mo’s son was jailed for an undisclosed offence. The dispute was between his father and his ex-wife Mucheta Chikamate.
Chikamate wanted to take her daughter to her parents’ homestead at Kukama Village in Muhusekwa. She then threatened to report Marimo to police for refusing to surrender the child. Marimo is reported to have quaffed rat poison and died in his dining room.
The matter was reported to Mahusekwa Police who attended the scene and ruled out foul play.
