Vincent comes one stroke short

SCOTT Vincent recorded an even-par 72 on Tuesday on the Riverside Course of the AAC and failed to advance out of stroke play of the 2014 US Amateur Golf Championships.
The Zimbabwean almost made it through, but the cut was made at two-over-par, which meant that he fell one stroke short, in his final score of three-over-par after the two qualifying rounds.

Vincent carded a three-over-par 74 in Monday’s first round and had the second round to take him back into contention, but failed.
He played the final 27 holes of stroke play at even-par.

On the local circuit Ben Follet-Smith will lead a field of 41 players in the Zimbabwe Matchplay later this year.
Follet-Smith, who is based in the United States, had a good campaign that saw him booking a ticket for this year’s World Amateur Golf Championships set for Japan.

The player will be joined by Vincent and another United States-based golfer Ray Badenhorst at the Matchplay.
