LEADING Zimbabwean professional golfer Scott Vincent secured a place in the lucrative 2024 LIV Golf Tour after an impressive outing last weekend at LIV Golf Jeddah presented by ROSHN at King Abdullah Economic City in Saudi Arabia.

Vincent, who will be heading to the Trump National Doral in Miami from October 20-22, managed to make the 2024 tour card through the open zone category.

A tie for third place after rounds of 70, 62 and 66-198 total was enough for Vincent to make the cut for the tour card.

The Zimbabwean will join South African, Zimbabwean-born Dean Burmester who is on position 14 in the standings lead by Talar Gooch.

Vincent’s young brother Kieran is also making good progress in the Asian Tour and is a reserve player, as he is still trying to earn his Tour card.

An Iron Heads Golf Club member, who represented the country at the inaugural golf Olympics, earned his way into the 2023 LIV Golf League season by virtue of his performance last year on the International Series as the Order of Merit leader.

After Saturday’s round Vincent managed to earn his way into the 2024 LIV Golf League season after he finished on position 22.

Vincent’s eight-under-par 62 on Saturday at Royal Greens moved him into a tie for fourth with Bryson DeChambeau on the tournament leader board and he followed it with a eight-under for the tournament, he was four strokes behind leader Brooks Koepka and he moved into the Top 24 in the season-long points standings.

He managed to maintain his spot after Sunday’s final round, where he finished in the Lock Zone — the top 24 players who are guaranteed spots next season.

After the opening round Vincent said he was happy with the prospect of making the cut.

“It’s obviously on my mind,” Vincent said, “but it’s something that I can’t really focus on myself. We’ve got one more day of golf. And that’s kind of what I’m focusing on. It’s just about being in the present for me.

I’m really grateful to be out here playing and competing with amazing players. And it is going to be an awesome battle tomorrow,” said Vincent.
