ZIMBABWEAN professional golfer Kieran Vincent is on the verge of making the cut at the Asian Tour’s World City Championship presented by Hong Kong Golf Club in Hong Kong after he finished tied on position eight yesterday. Vincent is part of the seventh leg of the 2023 Asian Tour season and had a three-under-par at the Composite Course at HKGC to tie with several top professionals.

The tournament returns after three years as Hong Kong has opened travel to international travellers after a Covid-19-induced lockdown.

The Zimbabwean will go into today’s round trailing day one leader Miguel Tabuena of Philippines by four shots.

Vincent, who missed the cut during last week’s DCG Open represented by MasterCard at Delhi Golf Club in India, is poised to make amends and improve his order of merit standings.

Vincent played alongside S Chikkarangappa of India and Thailands’ Pawin Ingkhapradit who are on position four and 18 respectively.

Meanwhile, Mutupo/Isibongo golf tournament will now incorporate all golfers from different backgrounds in Zimbabwe and the region as the matching Zodiac animal sign will be used to accommodate all golfers willing to participate in the tournament.

The tournaments heads to Bindura Golf Club on behalf of Mashonaland Central Province.

Tournament director, Ephraim Mashingaidze, said they had received numerous inquiries from golfers who also wanted to participate as the tournament moves around in the nine provinces of Zimbabwe, one game per month up to November.

“We want to keep increasing the number of golfers participating in all the hosting venues, and that any golfer who wants to participate should be able to do so.

“Indications as per entries so far show that Dziva, Shumba and Hungwe are really geared up to claim the top points in the second edition,” said Mashingaidze.
