Violence erupts in Gampinya village over family dispute

Nkosizile Ndlovu

Gampinya village in Nkayi was recently shaken by a violent incident involving Nobuhle Ndlovu and Thabiso Job, stemming from a complicated family dispute that has lingered for years.

According to reports, Ndlovu confronted Job accusing him of concealing the whereabouts of Abel Ncube, the father of her child. Ndlovu had been married to Ncube, who impregnated her three years ago. However, she later discovered that Ncube was also involved in a gay relationship with Job. This revelation led to a violent backlash from Ndlovu’s family against Ncube, forcing him into hiding.

Three years later, desperate to find the father of her child, Ndlovu approached Job, who still resides in the village. When Job professed ignorance about Ncube’s location, Ndlovu attacked him physically. The situation escalated as other community members joined in the assault, leaving Job injured.

Villagers who witnessed the incident expressed deep concern over the violence and the tensions it has stirred in the community.

One villager, Thandiwe Moyo, said, “We heard shouting near the homestead and rushed to see what was happening. Nobuhle was very angry and was hitting Thabiso. Then others joined in. It is sad to see our village torn apart by such disputes.”

Another resident, Sipho Dube, added, “This family issue has been going on for years. It’s painful because it involves people we all know. We hope the authorities intervene before things get worse.”

Ndlovu herself spoke about the incident, explaining her frustration and pain. “I have been searching for Abel for years. My child deserves to know their father. When I asked Thabiso, I only wanted answers, but he refused to help. I lost control because I was desperate. I regret that others got involved, but I felt I had no choice,” she said.

Local leaders have called for calm and urged the parties involved to seek peaceful dialogue to resolve their differences. They emphasized the need for community unity and warned against letting personal disputes escalate into violence.
