A traditional leader was recently scolded and dressed down by South Africa cooperative governance and traditional affairs portfolio chairperson, Faith Muthambi, after a naked woman emerged on screen during virtual proceedings.
The traditional leader, Xolile Ndevu of the National House of Traditional Leaders (NHTL), had been presenting on a variety of issues, including initiation and the death of initiates in initiation schools, when the naked woman entered the bedroom much to the dismay of Muthambi.
Ndevu apologised profusely, holding his hands on his head.
The video has since started circulating on social media.
In the clip, the person who recorded it is heard laughing when the naked woman emerges in the frame.
Muthambi did not find it funny.
“The person behind you is not properly dressed; we are seeing everything, yhoo (sic),” she exclaimed.
“Please inkosi, did you tell them you are in a meeting? This is very disturbing what we are seeing. And this is not the first time this is happening, every time we see you we see these unholy pictures. You are live on television,” she said.
Ndevu, who was visibly embarrassed by the incident, covered his mouth and apologised.
“I am so sorry chair, I am very sorry. I was focusing on the camera I did not know there was someone behind me, I am so sorry,” he said, adding that he was embarrassed by the incident.
Muthambi said in a statement that the incident was regrettable.
“The naked woman was not part of the meeting. She was in the same room where the participant in the meeting was. We regret and condemn the incident in the strongest terms,” said Muthambi.
“It is regrettable that this kind of footage, which is embarrassing the committee, happens for the second time in meetings between the committee and the NHTL. I am going to engage with the leadership of the NHTL.”

A pair of complete strangers joined forces to fake a marriage proposal in a packed bar to bag themselves free drinks — and the stunt has really divided opinion.
In a video uploaded on social media, a man wearing a grey jumper and baseball cap can be seen getting down on one knee to ‘pop the question’ as the woman accepts before the pair share a romantic kiss.
Other strangers in the bar, thought to be in the United States, get to their feet to cheer and clap as the happy couple’s friends orchestrate the excitement with wild celebrations. The bar staff also join in with the congratulations and the group can be seen toasting the moment with free drinks – but it seems the gestures of goodwill had fallen victim to the pair’s devious plan.
Captions on the video, originally uploaded to TikTok, reveal: “So we met this guy at Texas Live last night and planned a fake proposal with him. People we didn’t even know got so hype about it and made it so fun. And we got free drinks for the rest of the night.”
It was shared on Reddit with the comment: ‘Two people faked a marriage proposal and got free drinks’ but other viewers disagreed that it was ‘trashy’ and instead called it a “pro move”.
One argued back to say: “If anything, they made the night more fun for everyone there!”
A third replied: “I have been with people that have done this. It’s harmless fun, not trashy.”
And another added: “Trashy? More like good job, who likes to pay for over-priced under-poured drinks? Lol.”
Armed toilet paper thieves jailed for three years
Knife-wielding men who stole hundreds of toilet rolls during panic-buying shortages in the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic in Hong Kong were jailed for more than three years. The three were each sentenced to 40 months in prison over the armed robbery in February last year in which some 600 toilet rolls were taken, Mingpao newspaper reported.
Toilet rolls became hot property in densely packed Hong Kong when the coronavirus first spread from central China and hit the finance hub.
