THE Second Mashonaland West Investment Conference is set to welcome at least 300 local and international delegates, focusing on value addition in mining and agriculture.

The conference takes place from July 9 to 10 in Kariba, under the theme: “Unlocking and strengthening provincial potentials sustainably towards the realisation of Vision 2030.”

It aims to attract investments in tourism and infrastructure to increase the province’s gross domestic product. Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo said: “We are excited to have local and international investors, development partners, business leaders and Government departments participating in this prestigious event where we are expecting 300 delegates.”

She said Zimbabweans in the Diaspora and foreign investors could join virtually to contribute to the province’s development.

Participants from Asia, the European Union and Africa have confirmed their participation.

Minister Chombo called for investment in the processing and value addition of resources.

“The province also needs investment in infrastructure to match increased economic activity,” she said.

The Mashonaland West Investment Conference was an essential platform for forging partnerships, sharing knowledge, networking and driving growth in the province.

As a tourism hub, there is a pressing need for investment in the development of infrastructure for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions and new products.

Mashonaland West contributes about 11,5 percent, the third highest among the provinces, to the country’s national GDP and food production, making this conference crucial for future growth and development.
