Visual artist Godknows Navid Muchedzi says he is making a living out of online digital drawing and painting.
Muchedzi (27) who resides in Harare said he was inspired to learn online digital art, as more people are migrating into online drawing which is colourful and advanced.
“As you know we are living in a digital world. Many people and businesses are finding it easy and cheaper to access several services online.
“I reaslised that online digital drawing has a vacuum in our country so l chose to try it then suddenly I received positive response from people around the country and beyond for my services and l can tell you I’m now self-employed,” said Muchedzi.
Muchedzi said his artistic works has been well received locally and abroad as his clients are increasing.
“I receive calls from people asking for my services and most of them will tell me that they saw my art that I did for someone or they saw it on instagram”.
The digital artists encouraged other unemployed youths to learn how to use online digital art so that they can make a living.
“Instead of us as youth to waste time complaining about being unemployed, I encourage others to venture into this business.
Like any other normal job, this field require greater commitment and honesty as many of your clients will request your services online,” added Muchedzi.
Digital art is an artistic work that requires digital electronics as part of the imaginative work on the production of art.
Digital art can be traced back from the 1970’s, where many names such as computer art and multimedia art have been used to describe this process.
However, Muchedzi said he faces challenges of people stealing his artistic works.
“Piracy is everywhere even in this field of drawings I always face challenges of other artist or people stealing my works and sell them at lower prices.”
He further said that due to digital technology’s advancement digital painting and drawing have become a recognised profession
