THE Bulawayo Volleyball Association (BVA) were forced to suspend its league games after some clubs indicated that their players were part of the provincial team preparing for the rebranded Zimbabwe National Youth Games.

Matabeleland North will play host to the National Youth Games which start on Thursday and end on August 27 in Hwange.

Munyaradzi Chigudu, BVA vice-chairman said his association has been working closely with the provincial team before they depart for Hwange.

Chigudu said the BVA league games will resume after the National Youth Games.

“Due to the National Youth Games preparations, the league matches had to be suspended.

“There are teams in the league who have players in the Bulawayo provincial squad heading for Hwange.

“We only saw it proper not to disturb the provincial team’s preparations and let everyone focus on helping Team Bulawayo so that they bring medals from the national competition.

“The league will resume after the National Youth Games and clubs will be notified accordingly,” said Chigudu.

Four volleyball teams, the boys and girls’ Under-18s as well as the men and women’s Under-23 sides will represent Bulawayo at the Games.
