ZANU PF second secretary and Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi has urged Bulawayo residents to vote themselves out of poor service delivery that has seen sewerage flowing into houses and piles of uncollected garbage amongst other ills that have characterised opposition council administration.
VP Mohadi said this while addressing hundreds of Zanu PF supporters who attended the Emakhandeni – Luveve constituency rally held at Chigumira ground in Luveve on Tuesday.
Cde Mohadi who was assigned to Bulawayo by President Mnangagwa to canvass for votes for Zanu PF said on 23 August everyone was expected to go and vote for President Mnangagwa and his team for a fresh mandate so that they complete all the developmental programs that they initiated as well as send a strong message to detractors that Zanu PF is a people’s party.
“We expect you to use your vote wisely, especially from our first time voters. Zanu PF has already been given a lead courtesy of the confusion in the opposition camp. President Mnangagwa is the only leader with a known vision, as such when you vote for Zanu PF, you are voting for development.
“Our campaign for this election is development based. Thina asikhulumi inganekwane zabo mvundla lo nteleja. Hatshi! We are talking about development. Our party wishes for five more years to complete its programs as contained in the National Development Strategy (NDS) 1 and ultimately its vision,” said Cde Mohadi.
He said when they assumed leadership, as Second Republic, they deliberated on challenges facing Zimbabwe and agreed that the immediate challenge to deal with was food insecurity. He said secondly, they needed good roads and airports and border posts to facilitate the movement of goods and services from one place to another and to international markets hence they resolved to construct water bodies through-out the country.
“We embarked on dam constructions which include Gwayi-Shangani, Tugwi-Mukosi, Tuli-Manyange and Kunzvi Dam. In addition, we resolved to construct and rebuild our roads, border-posts and airports to facilitate commerce and trade and this saw the modernisation of Beitbridge Border Post, expansion and modernization of R.G Mugabe International Airport, rehabilitation of Harare-Masvingo Beitbridge Road; and the establishment of dry ports such as in Mutare,” said the Zanu PF Vice President.
He said as the Second Republic they have defeated hunger, electricity shortages and bad roads. Turning to projects in Bulawayo in particular, he said the Second Republic had engaged in a number of projects.
“If you look at our industry here in Bulawayo, you would notice it had gone down, however I am sure you have witnessed the revival of National Blankets, revival of Cold Storage Company (CSC), rehabilitation and refurbishment of the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), production boost in companies such as Tregar Group of Companies, Archer Clothing, United Products Refineries, Datlabs and Kango,” hw said.
Cde Mohadi also spoke about mining saying they inherited a mining economy worth US$3 billion but today the mining sector had flourished under the Second Republic’s leadership, and its value had soared to an impressive US$12 billion.
“We anticipate this industry will continue to grow after the completion of Manhize Steel Plant ( the biggest steel manufacturing plant in Africa) and once we start drilling our own oil and gas in Muzarabani.
He added that the party scored resounding success in ensuring stability in the provision of electricity saying its availability had allowed the country to meet the growing energy demands of industries, businesses, and households.
The rally was attended by Zanu PF politburo members, central committee members as well as aspiring candidates. @nyeve14
