The primary elections and the confirmation exercise have reportedly fuelled infighting and contest for power in the party that is already reeling from factional infighting in the province.

Sources in the MDC-T on Wednesday said Mr Innocent Manhaso who lost to Mr Allan Moyo after polling 110 votes to the latter’s 240 ballots in Masvingo Central has since petitioned the party seeking a re-run alleging rigging. Masvingo Central constituency is presently held by MDC-T national executive member Mr Jeffreyson Chitando who did not seek re-election on the grounds that he wanted a new challenge.
