Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has arrived in Azerbaijan this morning, where he will join other world leaders attending the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum.
The forum will tackle the challenge of rapid urbanisation and promote structured urban development in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
He was received at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in the capital Baku by Zimbabwe’s Acting Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mr Muponisi Dzapasi, and the host country’s Minister of Culture, Mr Adil Karimli.

Senior Government officials from both Zimbabwe and Azerbaijan also welcomed VP Chiwenga who had to endure rainy and cold weather in Baku.
VP Chiwenga, who is representing President Mnangagwa, will attend the opening ceremony of the Forum today.
He will deliver an address highlighting Zimbabwe’s achievement in housing delivery in line with Harare’s desire to achieve an upper-middle-class income economy by 2030.

The Forum is being organised by the United Nations Human Settlement Programme and is running under the Theme “Housing the World, Safe and resilient cities and communities.”
