VP Chiwenga mourns Mrs Haritatos

Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Constantino Chiwenga has joined President Mnangagwa in mourning Mrs Angela Haritatos, the mother of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement Deputy Minister Vangelis Haritatos.

She succumbed to Covid-19 related complications on Wednesday, 18 days after the death of her husband to the same virus, liberation war hero Cde Peter Haritatos succumbed to the pandemic.

VP Chiwenga said her death is yet a grim reminder of the unprecedented threat posed to humanity by the pandemic.

“It is saddening to note that the country continues to lose people due to Covid-19 related complications.

“The passing on of Mrs Angela Haritatos, is yet a grim reminder to all of us of the unprecedented threat posed to humanity by this Covid-19 pandemic, Mr Angela Haritatos was an embodiment of fortitude and a sanctuary of humility as she ably rallied behind her late husband in serving this great nation,” said VP Chiwenga.

He said it was a painful experience for the deputy Minister to lose a mother barely 18 days after the passing on of his father.

“We share the grief with you and humbly beseech the Almighty God to be with you and the family in this difficult period. The family should take solace that the late Mrs Haritatos ran and finished her good race. May Her Soul Rest in Eternal Peace,” said VP Chiwenga.
