Vice President Col (Rtd) Dr Kembo Mohadi on Sunday arrived at Tshitaudze Cultural Village in Mpande, Beitbridge, to officiate at the inaugural Tshitaudze Heritage Festival.
The Vice President was received by the patron of the festival, Chief Tshitaudze, President of the Chiefs Council, Chief Mtshane Khumalo, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland South, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe, Government officials, traditional leaders and hundreds of villagers.
The official opening and closing ceremony marks the climax of the three-day cultural showcase which started on 25 September under the theme “Celebrating Heritage & Excellence.”
The festival brings together all schools under Chief Tshitaudze’s jurisdiction, local artists, women groups, traditional leaders and exhibitors to celebrate and preserve Venda, Sotho and other indigenous cultures.
VP Mohadi is also set to tour of the cultural village and exhibition stands showcasing traditional foods, artefacts, fashion, indigenous knowledge systems and agricultural produce before proceeding to the main arena where traditional processions and performances will be held.
