THE Tonga speaking community from Mola and Siakobvu under Kariba district have vowed to vote the ruling party during this year’s harmonised elections to wrestle the Kariba Constituency seat from the Citizens for Coalition Change (CCC).

Speaking after Zanu PF Vice President and Second Secretary, Cde Kembo Mohadi addressed a rally at Mola Secondary School yesterday, locals thanked President Mnangagwa and the ruling party for bringing development to the area.

Cde Mohadi had in his speech challenged the voters to boot out the CCC from the area for accelerated development to take place.

The assurance by the electorate follows several developmental projects undertaken by the Second Republic in the area with the community taking a swipe at the opposition legislator who represented them in Parliament for doing nothing to promote development.

President Mnangagwa’s led administration, in ensuring that no place is left behind, has brought joy to the Mola community.

“We are going to vote for President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF as we have seen a lot of development in the area,” said Cde Mauline Maketo of Mola’s Ward 4. “Some of the developments that we are seeing here include construction of the Siakobvu Government complex, electrification of schools, the shopping centre, clinic and chiefs’ homesteads. This is a result of President Mnangagwa’s leadership.”

Another party member from the area who defected from the CCC to Zanu PF, Cde Chido Zvidzai said the sitting opposition legislator had failed to bring meaningful development to the area. Cde Mohadi’s visit to Mola also excited the community which had never hosted any member of the Zanu PF presidium.

“For the past 43 years, there has never been a visit by the President and his deputies. This is the first time as we rally behind President Mnangagwa’s call for no place to be left behind,” he said.

“The ruling party has a lot to offer. We promised to meet your needs and requirements which we did. Through the able leadership of President Mnangagwa, we have managed to electrify the area.

“On top of that, the Second Republic has revived the construction of Siakobvu Government complex whose works had been halted before the Second Republic took over.”

Cde Mohadi pointed out projects that were undertaken by the Second Republic since 2018, adding that the province needed to resoundingly vote the revolutionary party for development to progress.

He also challenged party members to lead by example through maintaining a peaceful political environment.

“As we vote for our President and the party, let us do so in peace. If you are provoked, stay calm as the puppet opposition parties are looking for ways to please their masters,” he added.

Zanu PF Mashonaland West chair, Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka said Kariba should vote for President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF to show their gratitude for the development witnessed in the area regarded as one of remotest in the country.

At least 35 000 people have registered to vote in Kariba constituency with over 12 000 registered in three wards falling under Chief Mola.
