VP Mujuru for Youth Games

VICE President Joice Mujuru is this afternoon expected to officially open the 12th edition of the Zimbabwe National Youth Games at Mucheke.
The annual tournament is running under the theme, “Empowering the Youth, Growing the Economy through Sport”. A host of dignitaries, including Government officials, will also attend the official opening ceremony.

The official opening ceremony will be preceded by action on the field of play this morning. With athletics moving into the final stages at Victoria High, stiff competition is still expected.

In the football Under-17 tournament, Harare massacred Mashonaland East 7-0 with Bulawayo winning 6-0 against Mashonaland East.
Mashonaland West beat Midlands 1-0, while Manicaland and Matabeleland South settled for a goalless draw.

In the girls category, Manicaland beat Midlands 3-1, while the national Under-17 team and Bulawayo settled for a goalless draw.
Masvingo, however, demonstrated their dominance in the ring as three boxers from the province made it to the finals.
