Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko will today officially open the 5th edition of Zim Afro Medical and Health Fair in Harare. The fair started yesterday. The expo provides health providers and funders with an opportunity to exhibit their products and services.

Expo organiser Mr Shepherd Chakanza said the official opening by VP Mphoko showed that the annual event had been recognised at national level. The expo helps the public to compare the quality of products and services being offered by different health providers.

“Looking at the statistics, we have improved by 20 percent. The expo has managed to attract a number of exhibitors who are serious in business,” said Mr Chakanza.

The event helps the public to compare the quality of products and services being offered by different health providers. The public is given a platform to have face-to-face interaction with the medical and health providers.

Mr Chakanza said they had planned to extend their programme to small towns to conduct free medical check-ups and screening.

He added: “Following the success of the event, next year we will be conducting an international event that will attract exhibitors in the medical and health fields from around the globe. We are hoping to attract investors in the health sector.”

The event gives an opportunity to anyone involved in providing health services, from individuals to companies, to showcase their products and services.

Traditional medicine suppliers are also exhibiting.

One of the exhibitors, Mr Mark Smythe, said the event offered the public a variety of services to choose from.

For the past years free medical check-ups and screening have been offered to the public.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the expo which is fast gaining the support of the public.
