CHICKEN Inn forward Walter Vuwa is showing signs of resurgence after a difficult period marked by injuries, loss of form and off-field issues.
The winger, once a feared attacker, is slowly reclaiming his influence on the pitch as evidenced by his lively performance against CAPS United on Saturday.
Vuwa, whose career has been hampered by persistent injuries, was a constant threat on the flanks, troubling CAPS United’s defence with his pace and trickery.
His aggressive playing style has often made him a target for rough tackles, leading to multiple setbacks over the past season.
Off the field, he faced further challenges after an alleged disciplinary issue during his stint with Ngezi Platinum, which he has since denied.
The controversy stalled his progress, but Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas, known for his reputation as a mentor to struggling players, offered him a lifeline.
“I am getting back to my best as I seek to help the club reach the targets.
“The game against CAPS United was a difficult one, as the outcome was not in favour of us.
“My substitution was injury-inspired. I received a knock on top of the knee and the coach decided not to risk me as we also have another midweek fixture against Ngezi,” he said.
“The idea of facing Ngezi is a bit exciting. That is where I made my name and moulded the better part of my career.
“But now, I am on the other side and we would want to collect maximum points to help our own campaign.”
Chicken Inn have endured a poor start to the season and they are banking on Vuwa’s resurgence to help turn their campaign around.
“It’s all about taking responsibility for the team and working for things to materialise. This is the moment you would look to turn things into your favour and get the campaign rolling,” he said.
Chicken Inn are in the relegation zone with 13 points after match day 15.
