VW GOLF Mark IV: The German Talisman

There is a difference between passion, talent and skill but when you get a mix of all three . . . the results are breath taking. There is an old saying that goes like, boys never grow up, they just grow older and their toys get bigger and expensive.

It is true in every sense. This here is no Lamborghini nor is it a Ferrari. It’s a toy, an expensive toy. It’s Darren Pragji’s VW GOLF Mark IV. Passion, talent and skill brought this together.

I had an opportunity to meet this car fanatic whose skill is beyond measure. He’s a master at his craft. He manages to bring out the real meaning of custom in all his cars.

His Mark 4 Golf stands out. With the custom pearl blue metallic coat complemented by a second tone of black on the roof and bonnet, it’s flawless, you would think it came straight out of Tokyo like that but no, it’s all sweat and tears that brought it to life. It’s an attention seeker and it does get all the attention.

When you see it, you are sure to turn your head twice. With a custom body kit wrapped around it, it’s just about ready to fight with our somewhat less perfect roads.

This particular Golf was lowered some 40mm to accommodate Darren’s fears of flying high I’d say.

The drop was harmonised by 18 inches of Dotz wheels wrapped in 225/40 R18 Falken Rubber. Mind you these are not just Dotz Rims, they had to match, and they just had to. Again, this is the real meaning of custom. The exterior indeed has an endless flawlessness; the guys at styling auto really took time to bring out the shine in the bling. You could literally use it as a mirror.

Under the hood, it’s a stock 1600 motor and it’s also got a stock exhaust system . . . because it already makes enough noise. It’s got that subtleness that ticks just right at the correct decibel.

When it comes to the interior is pretty much stock except for one thing . . . the sound system! It’s packing up some serious watts with a Kenwood Head Unit with stock front and rear splits, Rockford Fosgate Amp powering twin 12inch lightning audio DVC subs . . . As I said, it’s packing some serious power.

We have seen many custom jobs out there but few are flawless, few define custom beauty and few can make as much noise without destroying an ear…this one can. All work featured done in-house at Stylin’ Auto.

This is work of art, its perfection and perfection is not hard to find — just look in the right places!
