This weekend I took time to observe and scan the lives of a lot of people that I know. What came out clearly is that we are generally surrounded by unhappiness and hopelessness.
Many people are leading meaningless lives filled with nothing, but the monotonous motions they go through daily. Surrounding us are people who have substituted life for dread, complaining has become the cornerstone of everything in their lives. There is nothing positive in their lives, life has become something they would sooner do away with because of the pains associated with their reality.
Attitude plays a major part in defining who you are, it determines the choices you make and the things that take centre stage in your life. I have noticed that unhappiness can take hold of you to a point where you see nothing positive in anything, everything becomes laborious.
During those moments, we often feel like we are the only ones carrying the cross of life, we feel sorry for ourselves and we believe that the load we are carrying is the heaviest.
We all have a choice in how we choose to programme our minds, it starts with our attitude. Do we believe that the Almighty can turn things around, that He can part our own Red Seas or have our minds reach to a point where we do not believe in anything other than the negativity that is in our minds?
Did you know that people who moan and complain endlessly are very tiring and that it gets to a point where even their own friends will turn away from them? Negativity is so draining, it can pull down even the spirits of those who mean well, it’s like a blanket of thick clouds that can cover everything with doom and gloom.
You have a fundamental part to play in how you feel, but you cannot do it alone. Through Him that gave you life you can break the stranglehold of dread and negativity. Like most things in life it starts with a choice. Make a choice to live better and to let go of those things that hold you back.
If you choose hope and love, happiness will fill those negative pockets. Before long His love will begin to warm your heart and you will be on your way to leading a life filled with hope and faith.
