Walking in Spirit: Grace of God

Ephesians 2 vs 8; “For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
I got a request from an aunt of mine to write about grace. Other than Jesus Christ who came in the form of a man, no other human being has been found to be perfect in the eyes of God.

We all attempt to be good, but as is written, we all fall short of the glory of God. We are sometimes caught in a cycle of guilt based on our less than perfect actions. We all have things that we do, many of which we try everyday to either stop or desist from.

The bulk of us suffer as a result of our actions and we do not quite know why we do them in the first place. Those of us with a conscience are often caught in a dilemma where they ask “how can I be perfect in God’s eyes after all I have done?” Not long ago I spoke with someone who said “I have done so much wrong, God will never accept me.”

Have you ever noticed that the Bible tells stories of imperfect beings that were fraught with scandal and sin? Outside of being a spiritual bestseller, if some of the stories in the Bible were to be adapted into a series of fiction based stories, it would still be a bestseller given the intrigue that is involved.

Have you ever wondered about people like the Apostle Paul? A man whose life was dedicated to stopping the spread of Christianity to the extent of jailing and killing people for his beliefs? His Damascus encounter with the Lord changed his life forever.

Christians at the time could not comprehend or better still, accept that Saul was now Paul. From being an outcast to being the champion of virtue, that was quite a transformation.

The vast majority of people will try very hard to make sure that we know that we have fallen and that we are truly unworthy. The God we serve is not like that at all. He fully understands us for who we are, fallen individuals that need Him to love and restore us.

Sin is a part of our lives, each day we pray for His grace, to be washed anew as we confess our sins to Him. Our confessions become the basis of forgiveness and ultimately, acceptance.

Are you troubled and heavy laden by the things you have done, things that continue to haunt you? Find comfort in knowing that He cares and above all, He will make you whole, regardless of what you may have done.

Be blessed.
