Walking in Spirit: People and words

Romans 4:20-21 NKJV; “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.”

I have often wondered about us as human beings. God made us big and small, light and dark, short-tempered and humorous. We are different in so many ways.

Throughout all these major distinctions, I have always been perplexed by individuals who are just outright cruel, people who will never say anything nice about anyone instead they are continuously back biting and wishing them ill. It is said, if you truly want to discover who your friends are, get into trouble and see their reactions.

A few weeks ago I got a call from a very unlikely source. He had not spoken to me in a very long time. As we got talking, he quickly got to the crux of the matter and said; “I just called to warn you that this person is going around saying the most outrageous things about you. Actually they are wishing ill of you.”

The individual in question had met me a few hours earlier; had smiled at me and behaved as if we are long lost friends. I was a bit taken aback at what I was being told.

Over the years I have learnt one valuable lesson, never vouch for a human being, they have the ability to please and disappoint in the same measure. I sat down to reflect on the call I had received, I was not troubled, but rather taken aback at how our relationship had taken a turn for the worse.

I quickly picked up the phone and said to him, “I hear this is what you are saying about me, if there is anything I have done to wrong you, I am sorry.” The party graciously denied any wrongdoing and quickly ended the conversation by saying he was in a meeting and would call me later. A month down the line, I am still waiting for the individual to call me.

People will come in and out of your life, one thing you have no control over is the opinions of human beings. You just have to accept that all are graciously and perfectly made.

Don’t trouble yourself by trying to understand why and how perfectly good relations can become flawed and strained. One will never really know the reasons why people get to those levels.

Be Blessed.
