Walking in Spirit: You Can!

Philippians 4 vs 13; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I received a request to address the issue of fear, within the context of not being good enough and always being apologetic about not being able to live up to the standard that we will have assumed or set for ourselves.

I guess the truth is, we all have different insecurities that we deal with on a day to day basis. Many have scars from yesteryear that never quite heal and these scars affect them and hinder their ability to move forward.

Unresolved issues and pent up emotions can be a recipe for disaster, the basis of failure is self-doubt, where one cannot believe in themselves or exercise faith. Faith, as defined by the Bible, is the belief in things not seen, things that are hoped for.

The starting point of curing self-doubt is to believe in yourself and more importantly, believe in the ability of your Maker to do the impossible. You are wonderfully created in His image, meaning that He has made you as He is, He has given you power to achieve great things through Him.

To believe, in any form, is one of the most difficult things to do, to listen to words spoken and actually say is possible. To take it a step further and believe in something unseen is even more difficult and the concept therefore, of a divine, unseen God is something difficult to process and understand.

The first step in faith is to look for indicators that speak of a power that is beyond anything you can imagine or comprehend. Think of things like the power of the sun, its radiating strength, how it positively affects our lives and how cold it becomes when the sun is covered behind a set of clouds.

Think of childbirth, the process from start to finish, can that be explained in any way other than the fact that it is the amazing power of God that makes it possible?

Daniel, when he found himself in a foreign land, remembered the God of his ancestors in Israel, his God who could do beyond what the imagination can conjure. He believed that God would look after him, see him through and protect him from the lions that were in the den he had been thrown in.

Don’t let the enemy lie to you and tell you that it is not possible. He made the stars the moon and the sun, complex things that require effort to understand. Surely He will solve your problems and remove that lion that is by your doorstep.

Be blessed.
