FORMER Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Hwange are facing unrest in their camp after players claimed they are still owed last season’s signing-on fees and seven winning bonuses.
Sources within the squad said the club leadership had promised to settle the dues by February 10 but failed to meet the deadline.
“It’s disappointing. These are agreements we signed for. How does the game grow if clubs don’t honour contracts?” said one player who requested anonymity.
Another senior player confirmed the squad is engaging the Footballers union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) to intervene.
“We are now in talks with FUZ. We want this matter resolved properly,” he said.
If the dispute is escalated, Hwange risk sanctions that could include a transfer ban or suspension from the Zifa Southern Region Division One League.
The players ended the 2025 campaign in strong form on the pitch but say they are still waiting for what they earned.
FUZ president Desmond Maringwa has previously intervened in similar disputes involving local clubs.
Hwange administrator Khumbulani Mbano was contacted for comment but would not confirm the claims.
“I cannot say we owe them or we don’t. The players were addressed on Monday and an arrangement was communicated. It’s difficult to comment on what is being said by outsiders,” said Mbano.
Hwange finished last season among the leading sides in the Southern Region, pushing eventual champions Bulawayo Chiefs and staying in contention alongside Nkayi United.
