Liberation war hero Cde Sure Karedzo Sipuano who died on Tuesday was buried at Harare Provincial Heroes Acre yesterday.
He was 64.
Addressing mourners at the burial, Mr Ignatius Mungure, the deputy director coordination in the Harare Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Charles Tawengwa’s office, said the late Cde Sipuano was a dedicated and committed Zanu PF cadre.
“We gather here today to bid farewell and pay our final respects to a true hero, a freedom fighter and a pillar of our nation’s history, Cde Sure Karedzo Supuano.
“It is with great sadness in our hearts that we mourn the loss, but also with immense pride that we celebrate the life and legacy of the liberation war hero,” said Mr Mungure.
Family spokesperson, Mr Taona Sipuano, expressed his gratitude to President Mnangagwa for the honour he bestowed on his brother.
He described his brother as a strong and hard-working person who was dedicated to his family, the ruling party and development of the country.
Cde Sipuano, whose Chimurenga name was Cde Teddy Shungu, was born in Zvimba District of Mashonaland West on August 8, 1960 and was educated at Kutama Mission.
He crossed into Mozambique to join the liberation struggle in 1976 as a Zanla combatant. He received his military training at Nachingweya Base in Tanzania and was deployed to operate in Gutu in Masvingo.
Cde Sipuano is survived by his wife, Constance Nyandoro and five children.
