War veterans in Hurungwe District meet tomorrow in Karoi to discuss ways in which they can contribute towards the successful implementation of projects under the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim-Asset).
War veterans from Chirundu, Kariba and Karoi are converging at Karoi Junior School for the meeting which starts at 10am. Secretary-general of Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association in Hurungwe District Cde Donny Nxele said the meeting was meant to educate the war veterans in areas of the Zim-Asset blueprint where they can make meaningful input in their locations.
“We want war veterans and widows and widowers of war veterans in our area to learn and contribute towards Zim-Asset as you know that we support Government policies,” he said.
“As patriotic citizens who fought to liberate this country, we want our economy to be boosted through the successful implementation of this economic blueprint. War veterans are known for making sacrifices and I am sure if we work hard like what we did during the liberation struggle, Zim- Asset will produce the desired fruits,” he said.
Cde Nxele said the meeting was also meant for war veterans in the district to meet the War Veterans Trust leadership and to know how members could benefit from the trust. He said the meeting would also discuss the welfare issues affecting war veterans, their widows and widowers.
“We want to capacitate war veterans in our area on how they can benefit from programmes like Government inputs among others. If we produce more food for the country, surely we will have contributed immensely towards the successful implementation of the blueprint,” Cde Nxele said.
