FORMER Kaizer Chiefs Zimbabwean striker Kingston Nkhatha got a warm reception from his new club SuperSport United, after being unpopular with the Amakhosi fans.
The 28-year-old Zimbabwean joins Matsatsantsa on a three-and-a-half year deal with immediate effect. Having initially signed a pre-contract, it meant that he was only going to join the club in July once his contract with Chiefs had expired at the end of June.

However, the two clubs since came to an agreement to have Nkhatha released immediately to Tshwane and as such once the action resumes on 10 February, he will have a new home.

SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews reveals how he initially thought the move would only be possible next season.

“While we were obviously prepared to wait for Kingston to join us in July, I am happy we could fast forward the transaction and I would like to thank Kaizer Chiefs for their professionalism in this matter.

“I look forward to Kingston contributing to the success of our club,” Matthews stated on the club’s Twitter.

Coach Gordon Igesund believes that Nkhatha’s huge work-rate is going to be a big boost to his side, given the season they have had thus far.

“I am thrilled to have him now, he’s going to add huge value to the team with his high work-rate. He is a quality player,” Igesund stated on the club’s Twitter.

It will be interesting to see whether he will be allowed to play as a lone man, like he was with the Amakhosi or will he form a partnership with Dino Ndlovu. —Supersport.
