THE first batch of the Zimbabwe national team players has arrived in Saudi Arabia where they are scheduled to clash with former African champions Algeria in an international friendly match later this week.

The contingent, which features a mix of local-based and South African-based players have been joined by Germany-based Jonah Fabisch in camp. The rest of the European-based contingent is expected to complete arrivals later in the day.

Zimbabwe face Algeria on Thursday before they play Qatar three days later in Jeddah.

ZIFA said in a statement the first training session will take place this afternoon at 3pm (Zimbabwean time) as preparations intensify for the upcoming clash.

Head coach Marian Mario Marinica said: “This friendly is an important test in our journey towards AFCON 2025.”

These fixtures form part of the Warriors’ broader preparations ahead of the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers and are expected to provide crucial technical and tactical assessments for the team’s ongoing development.

Zimbabwe will face Egypt, South Africa and Angola in Group B at the AFCON finals which run from December 21 to January 18.
